Description

This arrangement of George Gershwin’s iconic ‘Summertime’ was commissioned by the Waco Symphony Orchestra to be performed with Baylor University’s pop a cappella choir VirtuOso. This unique rendition features a distinct harmonic language that is slightly developed from Gershwin’s original version. The contrapuntal writing in the orchestra combined with the soulful writing of the voices creates an original, interesting, and aesthetically beautiful version of Gershwin’s classic. The piece is written with an intermediate difficulty level and can be viewed as an homage to arranging style of Nelson Riddle.
